Cindy Moss is my cousin. Her story doesn't have a happy ending. How I wish it did.
I loved Cindy ever since I was a little girl she was fun and always laughed.. My parents loved her. My dad teased her and Cindy teased my dad back.
As a little girl I used to look up to Cindy and was enamored with her. She was tall, thin and beautiful w/ beautiful hair. She was the nicest person. She would do anything for anyone. I loved her so much. I don't think many people didn't.
Cindy was diagnosed with Lung Cancer after she had a tumor was removed from her brain in either January or February of 08 and she battled for her life taking chemo, radiation therapy and Cyber Knife. Cindy had a very aggressive type of Cancer. I never thought she would die. She wasn't going to let herself die. I truly believed that she would make it. I don't care what stage she was in. I believed she could get better. She kept battling the Cancer when they found more tumors. Cindy passed away in October of 08 at home.
Cindy is a special person always has been and always will be remembered as the special person she was,
I had known I wanted to go back to school. I was going back for Medical Billing and Coding/ Infor Technology. As I looked through the Thomas Jefferson University Book. I saw a thing called Medical Dosimetry.
Radiologic Sciences
Medical Dosimetry - a sub specialty of radiation oncology that deals with treatment planning, dose measurement, dose calculations, and quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment designed to treat cancer. Medical Dosimetrists plan and calculate ionizing radiation under the direction of a medical pysicist.
Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography ( PET / CT ) are standard imaging tools that allow clinicians to pinpoint the location of cancer within the body before make treatment recommendations. The highly sensitive PET scan picks up the metabolic signal of actively growing cancer cells in the body, ad the CT scan provides a detailed picture of the internal anatomy that reveals the size the shape of abnormal cancerous growths. Alone, each test has its limitations but when the results of the scans are fused together the provide the most complete information on cancer and metabolism. In the past, difficulties have arisen from trying to interpret the results of both tests together because, patients often change their positions between tests. The combined PET/CT scan allows clinicians to perform the tests simultaneously; which leaves less room for error in interpreting test results.
I read this and I knew this is what I wanted to do. I felt happy with my choice changed all the accounting classes I will graduated from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2013 with a masters in Radiologic Sciences my specialty Medical Dosimetry.
I felt warm with love and thoughts of Cindy. I smiled and said " thank you ".
Im Liking it and I believe you are wrong about one thing. it does appears to have a happy ending since you were inspired by her to continue in a profession that worked so hard to save her. RC
